The blend

What is a proprietary blend?

A proprietary blend is a group of ingredients listed under one total weight. The GutOptim blend weighs 1.5 g per serving. The label names all ten ingredients but not how much of each is inside.

U.S. rules require blend ingredients to be listed from most to least by weight. So psyllium husk, listed first, is the largest share. Glucomannan, listed last, is the smallest share. Beyond that order, the split is not public.

Why do brands use blends?

Brands often say a blend protects their recipe from copycats. It also keeps the label short. The tradeoff is that buyers cannot compare each ingredient with the dose used in studies.

Pack vs. panel

Why does the label list ten ingredients when the pack shows six?

The front graphic names six ingredients: psyllium, bentonite clay, black walnut, oat bran, flaxseed and plum. The Supplement Facts panel adds aloe vera leaf, L. acidophilus, apple pectin and glucomannan. That makes ten in total.

The panel is the legal list of what is inside. When pack art and the panel differ, the panel is the one to trust. The GutOptim ingredients page covers all ten.

Claims

What do the front claims and daggers mean?

The front of the pack carries three claims: “Advanced Synbiotics,” “Digestive Comfort” and “Bloating & Gas Aid.” Each has a dagger (†). The dagger links the claim to the FDA statement printed on the label.

That statement says the claims have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. It also says the product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. Every supplement making this kind of claim must carry it.

“Clinically Researched Ingredients”

This front badge refers to the ingredients. Psyllium, flaxseed, prunes and others have been studied on their own. It does not mean GutOptim as a finished product has been tested in a trial. What each claim rests on is set out on GutOptim benefits.

Safety lines

What do the warnings and storage lines say?

The label has four safety lines. They cover who should not use it, how much liquid to drink, allergens and storage.

Caution line

Not for anyone under 18, or for pregnant or nursing mothers. Check with a physician first if you take a medicine or have a condition.

Choking notice

Take with at least a full glass of liquid. Do not use if you have difficulty swallowing.

Allergen line

Contains tree nuts (walnuts). The facility may also handle eight major allergens.

Storage line

Keep it cool and dry, below 86°F. A closed cupboard away from the stove works well.

The choking notice exists because swelling fibers like psyllium and glucomannan must carry one in over-the-counter products (21 CFR 201.319). The how to take GutOptim page turns these lines into a daily routine.

Honest note

What does the label leave out?

A few useful facts are not on the label. None is required by law, but each affects how you judge the product.

Individual amounts

The ten ingredients share 1.5 g. Single-fiber studies used 3 to 10 g a day, so each fiber here is below the tested dose (McRorie et al., 2021).

CFU and strain

No colony-forming unit count or strain code is printed for L. acidophilus. Probiotic effects depend on both (NIH ODS, Probiotics).

Aloe type

The label does not say whether the aloe leaf is decolorized (low in aloin) or whole leaf (NCCIH, Aloe Vera).

Gelatin vs. the vegetarian seal

Some marketing shows a vegetarian seal. The label lists gelatin as the capsule shell, which is made from animal collagen. Vegetarians should go by the label. A marketing image also shows a seal reading “FDA approved,” but the FDA does not approve supplements (FDA, Q&A on Dietary Supplements). Supplements like GutOptim are never “FDA approved” before they go on sale.

Lot and quality

Where are the lot number and quality details?

The lot shown in our files is GUT-26/MY-1730. The certificate of analysis reference is GUT-1730-26-MY. These are references only, and no lab certificate has been published.

You can compare the code on your own bottle using the batch verify page. Our testing and quality page explains what a certificate should show and which seals mean what.
